In keeping with the values of community service and compassion, BSA Troop 97 Scouts dedicated their time and effort on Saturday to assist individuals who are undergoing housing transitions by volunteering at the New Life Furniture Bank in Walpole.
The New Life Furniture Bank has helped to provide stable and welcoming environments for families and individuals transitioning to new homes since 2013. They play a vital role in fostering a sense of dignity and belonging for those embarking on fresh chapters in their lives.
This service project that was selected by the scouts of Troop 97, saw them roll up their sleeves and immerse themselves in the noble cause of helping those in need. By providing assistance with receiving, preparing, and sorting items generously donated by the community, they are ensuring that those in need have the necessary furniture and household items to turn their new houses into homes.
With the guidance of the friendly veteran staff at New Life Furniture Bank, the scouts enthusiastically accepted and processed donated items, helping to inspect each piece to ensure its quality and usability. From couches to coffee tables, beds to bookshelves, the scouts worked hard to organize the inventory, making it easier for individuals to find the items they needed to furnish their homes.
For these young volunteers, the experience was not just about lending a hand; it was about making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Through their actions, they exemplified the Scout Law ideals, including being helpful and kind.
