“The Fashion at Downton Abbey” will be presented in the Community Room of the Walpole Public Library at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, sponsored by the Friends of the Walpole Public Library. All are welcome and there is no charge to attend.
Inspired by the popular PBS television series, this overview of late/post-Edwardian dress is offered by Karen Antonowicz.
Karen Antonowicz has been presenting various fashion era lectures and workshops for the last several years at libraries, historical societies, senior centers, and schools. She has a Master's Degree in Historic Costume & Textiles from the University of RI and taught History of Fashion, Textiles, and other courses at the college level for 13 years.
She continues to teach Historic Costume at the Rhode Island School of Design in their Continuing Education program. With her husband Mike she owns Nostalgia Antiques and Collectibles in Providence, RI., where she presents a different fashion era topic each month. In addition to lecture, slides, and video clips, she includes extant clothing and accessories of the period whenever possible.
