Excitement was in the air on the morning of Thursday, April 27th at Walpole Public Library (WPL), and you could sense it as soon as you arrived. As the parking lot filled, delighted children were escorted by parents, grandparents and caregivers into the building. They all gathered in the Community Room to await the main attraction: local children’s performer, Stacey Peasley.
Peasley did not disappoint, as she enthusiastically entered the room, greeted the crowd, and started strumming her guitar and singing. Babies, toddlers, young children and adults clapped, tapped and sang along to both old-fashioned favorites and original songs by Peasley. Several audience members proudly donned logo tees from recent concerts they attended, and some bolder kiddos walked right up front to wave to their favorite singer.
Peasley has been performing for over 30 years, with the last 10 being devoted to children and families. In addition to performing at libraries, schools, and day care centers, she offers music classes and concerts at larger venues and festivals as well. Recently, in an effort to give back to the community, she began a collaboration with Coco Tree Kids. This nonprofit organization provides new underwear to at-risk youth in Massachusetts, and Stacey is bringing a bin with her to all of her shows to collect donations from anyone wishing to contribute a new package of underwear to the cause.
WPL is home to many wonderful events like this one. Find them all on their website, walpolelibrary.org. For anyone interested in checking out Stacey Peasley, she’ll be back for another performance on Thursday, May 18th.
