Rainbow craft brings Pride to WPL

The Walpole Public Library hosted the Needle Felted Rainbow Patches crafting event on Friday, June 23rd. In honor of Pride month, attendees were able to pick from an array of fuzzy felted rainbow designs.

These wool felted patches could be used as a patch on a jacket or even framed to be a unique piece of art. Those in attendance were able to watch a step-by-step video from the Pop Up Art School on how to make these patches. By using a barbed needle and wool roving, these patches seemed overall pretty simple and easy to make!

Elizabeth Doherty was there running the show and helping out those who needed it. She went on to mention, “We picked these designs as a nod towards pride month. These are virtual programs and I booked two of them for this summer from the Pop Up Art School. I specifically chose this one for June and we will be doing a painting program next month. They [Pop Up Art School] are in Weymouth and they have a whole bunch of programs they do like this where you can do it either hybrid or virtually or people can come out and do them together. So as of today, we now have the video program available for the next month. So the people who signed up for this event but who did not make it, they can still come, pick up the kits, and still do it at home.”

Those at the event seemed extremely into their crafts and could do them with ease. For more information on upcoming events like these at the WPL, please visit their website at www.walpolelibrary.org
