Fourteen eager girls from the Kindergarten and First Grade classes at Boyden Elementary School have formed a new Daisy Girl Scout Troop #62245 under the leadership of Erica Burdon, Kati Klotz and Sarah Mount Elewononi, all of South Walpole. Roisin Doherty and Samantha Moses (who were Daisy Girl Scouts last year) were joined by Aubree and Noelle Bezanson, Keilana Burdon, Norah Cotter, Emily Coyne, Grace and Salem Elewononi, Keira Garrigan, Charlotte Hickey, Maggie Klotz, Laher Mehta and Jazleen Tabri.
The girls have earned their Daisy center by learning the Girl Scout Promise. They have also earned four Daisy petals representing portions of the Girl Scout Law. The girls practiced being honest and fair as they played games, thought about how they could be friendly and helpful at home and at school, and welcomed Mrs. Cokely Case, Boyden’s school nurse, who is considerate and caring as she takes care of Boyden School kids. The girls also shared stories and pictures of courageous and strong women.
At their first November meeting they celebrated the birthday of Girl Scouts’ founder, Juliette Gordon Lowe. And they prepared for the December cookie sale by earning the money counts leaf. The troop has also been working on the Between Earth and Sky journey which is preparing the girls to move out into the community and do something that will protect a natural treasure. Stay tuned for an invitation to help them with that project in the spring.
Some members of the troop participated in leading the Pledge of Allegiance at the Veteran’s Day ceremony on Walpole Common, and a few marched in the Santa Parade.
