Last Thursday, July 27th, Walpole Public Library (WPL) hosted its fourth summer movie in the community room. Free and open to all, the movie nights have been alternating between PG-13 films and more family friendly flicks, like last week’s showing of Lilo and Stitch.
The event began at 6:30 p.m., and attendees were offered popcorn, waters, and fruit snacks for the show. Lilo and Stitch themed coloring sheets were set up on a table with markers and crayons for anyone that needed a break from the movie. There were chairs available to sit on, but you were also welcome to bring a blanket to stretch out on.
Some more seasoned moviegoers came with enviable set-ups, complete with a pillow and a stuffed animal. “We’ve done this before,” laughed a dad as he and his son spread a blanket out and got ready for the show.
The movie started around 6:45, just as a thunderstorm began to pelt rain down outside. The audience didn’t seem to notice as they enjoyed the beloved 2002 film, which was perfect; particularly for anyone that didn’t like storms. In fact, by the time the show was over, the skies had cleared, making way for a beautiful sunset.
“We’re so glad we came!” exclaimed a mom in attendance with her two children. “My 3-year-old hasn’t been to a movie theater yet, so this was a great introduction. We’ll definitely be back!”
The movie nights continue weekly on Thursday evenings through August. You can find more information on the summer movies, as well as other library events and offerings, at www.WalpoleLibrary.org.
