The Walpole Council on Aging recently held an awards ceremony for its Mind Over Matter Olympics. Rich McCarthy filled in for Assistant Town Administrator Patrick Shield as the torch bearer and emcee for the day.
The Mind Over Matter Olympics feature monthly individual and team competitions to engage the brain as a muscle and keeping minds young. Founder Ora McGuire could not be present for the day.
The following received either a gold, silver or bronze award - and in some cases, more than one: Mary Burns, Betty Clement, Elaine Conlon, Emily Conrad, Ellen DeYasso, Dorothea Hanes, Marilyn Kelly, Betty Murphy, Sara Olson, Monique Simon, Joan Sullivan, Lana Waite, and Podgie Weissent.
