The Walpole Footlighters are warming up winter at their Playhouse on Scout Rd. in East Walpole, where they rehearse for the opening of their next show, “Don’t Dress for Dinner.” This hilarious comedy will be performed weekends from February 3 to February19. This is the second production of the Walpole Footlighters 2016-2017 season, their 92nd in continuous operation.

Written by Marc Camoletti and adapted by Robin Howdon, “Don’t Dress for Dinner” follows the two major characters, Bernard and Robert, and their various hilarious misadventures. Footlighter audiences may recall the previous farce with these two men from their 2014 production of “Boeing Boeing”.

In this follow-up, Bernard is planning a romantic weekend with his chic Parisian mistress in his charming converted French farmhouse, while his wife, Jacqueline, is away. He has arranged for a Cordon Bleu cook to prepare gourmet delights, and has invited his best friend, Robert, along to provide the alibi. It’s foolproof - what could possibly go wrong? Well, suppose Robert and Jacqueline are secret lovers, and consequently determined that Jacqueline will not leave for the weekend. Suppose the cook has to pretend to be the mistress and the mistress is unable to cook. Suppose everyone’s alibi gets confused with everyone else’s. An evening of hilarious confusion ensues as Bernard and Robert improvise at breakneck speed.

The show is directed by Dan Delaporta. It will be performed February 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday Matinee February 12 and 19 at 2:00 p.m.

Tickets are $20 and may be obtained by calling (508-668-8446) or visiting the Footlighters’ website at www.footlighters.com.
