The Walpole Council on Aging (COA) conducted its third annual Cookies and Cocoa event at the end of last year. This gathering brought together members of the Council on Aging and their families for an afternoon featuring hot chocolate, cookies, and dance performances.

The event served as a delightful conclusion to the holiday season, offering members of the Council on Aging an opportunity to reunite with friends before the commencement of the new year. Additionally, it fostered community engagement, as Boy Scout Troop Number 44 volunteered to distribute cookies to attendees, facilitating intergenerational interaction and providing the Boy Scouts with valuable volunteering experience.

Local dance classes, specifically six performances from the Commonwealth Dance Academy, contributed to the event's entertainment. The performances included both jazz and tap dances set to holiday music, eliciting enjoyment from the audience. Notably, some of the dancers had previously volunteered or performed at the center, evoking smiles from many attendees.

Cookies and Cocoa permitted center members to invite their families, creating a platform for families to connect with one another. Furthermore, the event showcased the inviting atmosphere of the Council on Aging and its offerings. Attendees shared cherished memories from the past year and their aspirations for the upcoming year.

Following the performances, attendees transitioned to various sections of the Council on Aging to continue conversations and locate their families. The provision of cookies and hot chocolate contributed to a warm and cozy ambiance throughout the building.

This event provided a pleasant conclusion to the holiday season, allowing individuals at the center to socialize and expand their connections. Cookies and Cocoa has become a highly anticipated annual event, offering a heartwarming conclusion to the holiday season for members of the Walpole Council on Aging and the broader community.
