Laughs and cheers. Hugs and tears. A sense of camaraderie and at least one very loud air horn. These were some of the most prominent parts of Walpole High School’s graduation day on Sunday, June 5.
294 seniors received diplomas surrounded by family and friends, as well as the school faculty and administration that made this day possible.
What happens next?
Kelli Celentano is heading to art school to focus on what she likes most.
Tyler Johnson is excited to be his own person and evolve in ways that exceed the boundaries of a proscribed school curriculum. This sentiment was echoed by Archana Apte who is looking forward to “the opportunity to discover things on my own, to figure things out other than the set path.”
Proud parents, siblings, and extended family were everywhere, beaming at their new graduates. Kevin Mealy, father of Patrick Mealy, hopes his son goes on to be “happy, successful and stays the same person” when he heads off to college next school year.
Speeches by Salutatorian Michael Sullivan and valedictorian Kaitlin Porter were mentioned by students as the most meaningful part of the ceremony because their comments were so relatable.
The skies may have been overcast and occasionally spit down some drops, but the rain held off for this special day in the lives of our newest graduated class.
Congratulations Class of 2016 and good luck in all that comes next!
