In honor of Walpole’s 300th Anniversary, the Walpole Council on Aging (COA) hosted a Taste of Walpole night. Fifteen Walpole businesses and restaurants showcased a taste of their offerings in which COA members would vote for their favorites.

Walpole COA members packed into the South Street Center, eager to mingle with friends and try out some amazing food. As everyone went through and checked in, Walpole COA Director Kerri McManama was seen passing out voting ballots as well as welcoming everyone into this special event. It was a sea of smiling faces and sounds of laughter as seniors walked around to the different vendors.

All of these fifteen vendors were spread out within the Murphy Room and Outdoor Patio. Extra seating for all guests was additionally seen within these two rooms and in the breakfast nook area.

Found within the Murphy Room was Jimmy’s Pizzeria, Country Kitchen, The Good Food Store, ThankQue Catering, Coco Butters, Royal Indian Kitchen, New Pond Village, Chill Juice Bar and Merry Go Sweets. Within these booths, pizza, donuts, sandwich samples, ribs, cookies, masala, risotto, fresh juices and more were served.

Out on the Patio, Crisp, Muffin House, Tessie’s, Raven’s Nest, Duck Donuts and Sakura were set up. These restaurants served lobster and crab cake sliders, pizza, pastry samples, pulled pork sliders, buffalo chicken dip, pasta, donuts, bubble tea, edamame and more.

There was certainly no shortage of food as COA members had plenty to choose from. As an added spectacle of ambiance, musicians could be seen both inside and out for all to enjoy whilst eating.

As seniors sat and ate their food, there were some young helpers on the scene to get drinks and cleanup when needed. Once everyone had the chance to try what they wanted to, it was time for everyone to cast their top three votes for each of these foods. With 23 options to choose from, it sure was hard for most to decide on just three to vote for!

The event as a whole ran very smoothly and all had such a wonderful time. Seniors boasted about all the delicious food and just how amazing it was to see the town of Walpole come together to celebrate an anniversary like this.
