Taking a stroll through marvelous greenery, birds chirping, a light breeze in the air, and bright vibrant flowers surrounding you is a perfect nature paradise. What if I told you this nature wonder is right in town? Recently, I took a stroll around Francis William Bird Park, it was my first time going, and it was amazing. Here is a little bit about what I found…

When I first started, I was greeted by a beautiful stone and wood archway as one of the many entrances to the park. Immediately there was an updated flyer on an event happening in the park that weekend. I noticed that the park will be celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2025 which is exciting to see such an establishment thrive in town. I continued along the stone path across the field bright green fields which shined in the bright sunlight from the summer sky.

I passed along exquisite ponds and encountered several geese, to this I walked quickly past in hopes of not getting attacked by their immense group… After I was clear from the geese, I was able to fully relax and enjoy the beautiful park ahead of me. It’s a perfect spot for gatherings, to play games with friends, and there are benches to read a novel or even write, the possibilities are endless. I stumbled upon an outstanding piece of architecture of a stone stage-like platform to the left of my path, overlooking the ongoing greenery of the fields across. With information stands guiding each visitor, people can learn about the history Bird Park holds.

As I wrapped up my walk through the park, I found “the Waters of Willow Pond” a pond surrounded by Willow trees. It was magical the way the trees danced in the wind, this was my favorite part of my time at Bird Park because of my love for the pure beauty of the Willow tree and the center of the piece the pond brings.

Does this nature paradise sound perfect to you? Take some time to enjoy the summer days at Bird Park where the opportunities are endless, whether you want to have a picnic, play some games, or simply take in a breath of fresh air. Bird Park’s beauty is right at your fingertips.
