Walpole residents helped make the holidays special for area seniors during Home Instead Senior Care’s annual Be a Santa to a Senior program.
The program helps to provide gifts to seniors in nursing care or who do not have families to provide gifts during the holidays.
Throughout the month of December, Home Instead Community Service Representative Laurie Blake set up trees in several local businesses where residents could pick up a gift list for a senior and make a donation.
This year, gifts were given to residents of several nursing homes in Walpole, Norwood and Mattapan. Parties were held at each nursing home where volunteers performed carols in front of the seniors and helped pass out gifts.
