Students from the Diesel and Mechanical Technology program at Norfolk County Agricultural High School in Walpole recently attended an Industry Day event at Advantage Truck Group (ATG) in Shrewsbury to learn about opportunities for diesel technicians in the trucking industry.
The students toured ATG’s service areas, parts department and technician training center for an up-close look at what it’s like to work in the trucking industry. Students also participated in a panel discussion about career opportunities at ATG and in the trucking industry, and learned about the tools, training, skills and certifications needed to work as a technician. ATG president and CEO Kevin Holmes discussed industry demand for diesel technicians and career opportunities across the ATG dealer network.
Norfolk Aggie instructor Robert Brol said his goal is to prepare students for careers and events like this expose students to employment opportunities in industries where they can use the skills they’ve learned to start their careers.
