The Wellesley Hills Woman’s Club is privileged to have Patti Quigley as its March speaker. After her husband’s tragic death on 9/11, Patti co-founded “Beyond the 11th” to help widowed counterparts in Afghanistan. In 2005, Patti joined Razia Jan and shifted her focus to Afghan girls. She is now the Executive Director of the Razia Ray of Hope Foundation. The Foundation supports a school that educates 600 Afghan girls from grades 10 -12. Patti has been a relentless fundraiser for the Foundation and many Wellesley residents have supported it over the years.
In addition to her work in Afghanistan, Patti has been raising two daughters, and has been actively involved in the town, including serving on the School Committee, the Wellesley Education Foundation and as a Town Meeting member. Recently, Patti was recognized as one of 10 individuals or groups for their contributions to Wellesley and beyond.
The public is invited to hear Patti’s inspiring story of what led her to Afghanistan and her work with Afghan women and girls.
The event will take place on March 1 at 1:15 p.m. in Henderson Hall at the Wellesley Community Center, 219 Washington St., Wellesley Hills.
