The Westwood High boys’ basketball team fell to Scituate 59-55 in the opening round of the Division 2 South playoffs on March 2.

The Wolverines were led offensively by junior Tim Giovino, who picked up a total of 14 points for Westwood during the game.

The Wolverines faced an uphill battle against Scituate from the beginning, as the team struggled to pick up a lead. By the end of the second period, the Wolverines were behind with Scituate leading 28-22.

Westwood came close to challenging Scituate’s lead several times during the game, coming within one point of tying several times, but the Sailors were quick to erase any Westwood gains and ultimately knocked Westwood out of the post-season with a 59-55 win.

The loss ends Westwood’s postseason run, and leaves the Wolverines with a 15-8 record to close out the season.
