24 Hours of Barefoot Soccer will take place at Wellesley’s Honeywell Fields from noon on Saturday, August 10, through noon the next day, Sunday, August 11 - the event goes on for a full 24 hours. Anyone, regardless of soccer skill level, is welcomed to play fun soccer scrimmages and games to benefit Grassroots Soccer, a charity that prevents the spread of aids in Africa by educating citizens. There is no need for cleats, shin guards, or any other specialized equipment, because everyone plays barefoot. Cost to participate is $25, which includes a tee-shirt.
Grassroots Soccer uses the power of soccer to connect young people with the mentors, information, and health services they need to live healthier, more productive lives, and be agents of change in their communities.
