Medfield and Dover Sherborn took to the field to continue their 57 year tradition of Thanksgiving morning football on a rainy Medfield High School turf last Thursday. The Warriors proved too much for the DS squad with a dominating 35-0 win, taking home the annual Turkey Bowl trophy.
Junior captain Brady McCormack opened up the scoring in the first quarter with a spectacular 72 yard punt return to put Medfield on the board early. Medfield added to the scoring with an 11 yard touchdown run by Senior Nate Taris with 5:28 to play in the half. The Warriors continued to pile on with the running attack when McCormack broke for a 37 yard touchdown run with only 23 seconds left to play in the half.
The dominating win was a great way to end the season for head coach Erik Ormberg’s team and a fitting sendoff for a great group of seniors. Nate Taris ended with an impressive 139 rushing yards, taking home the offensive MVP award honors while Luke Gobin took defensive MVP honors. Medfield leads the Thanksgiving day game tradition with a record of 33-21-5.
