The fourth seeded Walpole boys’ tennis team kicked off the spring playoff season on Wednesday May 27, 2026 as they faced 29th seeded Westwood at Walpole High School’s courts. The Timberwolves swept the Wolverines, 5-0.

The match format is three singles and two doubles matches with the best 2-out-of-3 sets in each match.

Walpole’s doubles strength showed early as the Timberwolves’ top doubles pair of Luke Moses and Matt Anastasi took care of business quickly, 6-3, 6-1. Moses and Anatasi have a match record of 14-3 on the season, the best record by a doubles team in Coach Gough’s illustrious career at Walpole.

Next, at third singles, Brady Goldman captured his match in dominating fashion, 6-1, 6-2.

Walpole’s second doubles team of Ramu Muthukaruppan and Pravith Sivakumar completed the doubles sweep with a 6-1, 6-3 victory.  Their victory clinched the team match for Walpole.

Walpole’s Dillon Blaquiere then won his singles match, 6-2, 6-3, at second singles.

The last match of the day was the top singles match of Walpole’s Stephen Jung and Westwood’s Andrew Easton.  Jung came out strong winning the first set, 6-2.  Easton rebounded nicely capturing the second set, 6-4.  Since the team match was already decided in Walpole’s favor, it was decided that a super tiebreaker format would be used to determine the winner of this singles match.  In a super tiebreaker, the first player to reach 10 points with a two point advantage wins.  The tiebreaker ebbed and flowed with eventually Easton tying it at 9. Jung then won the last two points to complete his victory, 11-9, and Walpole’s sweep.

Walpole was expected to play Burlington on Tuesday June 2 at Walpole High. Coach Shawn Gough’s last ride continues.
