In an event that has records broken in inches, senior Matt St. Cyr broke the Walpole school record in the javelin earlier this season by 23 feet. His prodigious hurl of 198’7” is the best in the entire state of Massachusetts this season across all MIAA divisions.

At the Bay State Conference meet at Braintree High School, he also captured his third straight conference javelin title with a heave of 198’ 4”, missing his personal best (PR) by three inches on a cold, drizzly, breezy night. He beat his nearest competitor by 39 feet.

The boys finished 2nd to Division 1 Newton North at the BSC meet with 86 points.

Austin Feener is 2nd in the 100 meter dash in Division 3 this season. His best time of 10.93 is 3rd in Walpole school history. He was the leading qualifier in the first heat at the BSC meet. But he experienced some hamstring tightness so he was scratched from the 200M and he walked the 100M final to get some team points.

The 1600 meter relay split school records for the boys have been dominated by this years’ team. Luke Zahurak holds the record, Cole Bowden is 2nd, Roger Mann is 4th and Nate O’Neil is 6th in Walpole school history.

The 4x200 relay school record is held by the current squad of Scott Falvey, Matt Nealon, Arnold Obour-Menseh and Austin Feener.

In his first outdoor season, junior Arnold Obour-Menseh helped contribute 17 points at the BSC meet. He achieved a PR in the 200M, finished 3rd in the 100M and helped the 4x100 relay team finished third as well.

After finishing undefeated in their Herget division dual meets and capturing the Herget division title, the boys are focused on defending their Division 3 state championship in outdoor track at the upcoming division 3 championships scheduled for Friday May 30 and Sunday June 1 at Westfield State University.

Victoria Terzyiska is 5th in the javelin in the school history books. At the BSC meet she finished a strong 2nd with a launch of 108’10”.

Freshwoman Sydney Dias finished 7th in the one mile and Maeve Connors finished 15th in the 400M at the BSC meet. Each accomplished PRs in the process. Danielle Danna finished 3rd in the 400M hurdles.

Bridget Tierney is 5th in the 800 meters for division 3. Tierney also holds the school record in the 1200 meter relay split. The girls’ 4x400M relay team of Connors, Tierney, Lily McManus and Danna achieved a season’s best time at the BSC meet.
