While high school lacrosse is still a week or so from getting underway and about three weeks from seeing real game action, the college season is currently in full swing.

On Saturday, Walpole native Pat Fraser and the No. 17 Johns Hopkins Blue Jays made the trip to upstate New York to take on long-time rivals and the No. 6 Syracuse Orange.

In what can only be described as a dominant performance, Fraser and the gang displayed to the world why you always have to respect Hopkins, as the Jays rolled to a more-than-convincing 18-7 victory in the Carrier Dome on national television. Four different Hopkins players (Cole Williams, Alex Concannon, Connor Desimone, Kyle Marr) recorded hat tricks.

Meanwhile, local man Fraser recorded two ground balls and two shots on net. The senior currently sports two goals on the season as a man-up left-handed specialist and should only see his production increase in the coming weeks with looming match-ups against defensively troubled teams such as UMBC and Delaware.

At 3-2 on the year and coming off of a lopsided win in the Carrier Dome against a top-10 Syracuse team, Hopkins is looking like it’s beginning to switch on the winning gear that the program has become so famous for over the years. With the Final Four getting set to head back to Gillette this Memorial Day weekend, do not be surprised if it’s a homecoming for lefty assassin Pat Fraser and the Blue Jays.
