Spring sports round up

In the spring of 2023, Needham student-athletes showcased their remarkable talent, securing wins and demonstrating unwavering determination to compete against the best. Each athlete understands the challenges inherent in their pursuits, but more importantly, recognizes the rewarding nature of each season. The essence of sports lies in pushing oneself to improve and derive enjoyment from the process.

As we review the final spring season records, it is crucial to acknowledge the tremendous dedication exhibited by each athlete and the exceptional talent exhibited by each team.

Starting with the lacrosse teams, the girls' team, under the guidance of Coach Anne Quigley, faced tough competition this year. Despite finishing with a 6-12 record, it was inspiring to witness their weekly displays of talent and growth. On the other hand, the boys' team, led by Head Coach Dave Wainwright, achieved an impressive 15-3 record and entered the playoffs on the back of an 11-game winning streak.

In baseball, the team concluded their season with a 7-13 record. Head Coach Rich Raymond and his team dedicated themselves to practice, honing their skills for competition. The girls' softball team also had a successful season, finishing with a 9-10 record under the leadership of Head Coach Stephanie Magni, including a four-game winning streak to end the season.

Both the girls' and boys' tennis teams concluded their seasons with 11-5 records. Their hard work and determination were evident as they battled against challenging opponents, earning valuable points and preparing for the season.

The boys' golf team concluded their campaign with a 7-5 record, while the girls' golf program finished with a 7-7 record.

Celebrations were in order for the boys' volleyball team, as they secured their third consecutive state championship with a perfect 22-0 record. Head Coach [Coach's Name] guided the team through an exceptional season, culminating in a closely contested championship match against Newton North.

To cap off the success of the spring seasons, the girls' track and field team achieved a perfect 3-0 record, while the boys' team finished with an impressive 4-0 record. It was truly a remarkable season, providing an opportunity to witness and share the outstanding talent possessed by these young athletes. Hometown Weekly is thrilled to be part of the action and eagerly anticipates the upcoming talent in the fall.
