Needham suffers second loss of the season

Needham Boys Basketball (#5 ranking in state) hosted Catholic Memorial (#2 in state) on Thursday, Feb. 16th. in one of the most highly anticipated games of the season. Students from both schools filled the ends of the bleachers making this a standing room only affair.

These two teams put on a show. Needham jumped out to an early double digit first quarter lead but CM's offense was too potent for Needham to ever feel comfortable. And by the end of the first half it was all tied up at 36.

Show time.

Needham came out strong in the second half again and clung to a small lead throughout the third quarter and most of the fourth. CM however, got some big stops and a couple big baskets late in the fourth, and with some late quarter fouls, proceeded to hit all of their free throws at the line. In the end, Catholic Memorial comes out on top with a final score of 69 to 63. Needham's record moves to 15-2 with two games remaining this season (Wellesley and BC HIgh).
