Needham’s Burnett decade’s fastest MIAA runner

Davonte Burnett was a dominant force for Needham High School track from 2014-2018.

At the indoor championships his senior year in 2018, Burnett set a new meet record in the 55M at 6.36 seconds. As a junior in 2017, Burnett won state championships in the 100-meter dash (10.63 seconds) and 200-meter (21.36 seconds).

Burnett's performance at the outdoor All-State meet in 2017 proved to be the fastest of the decade (2010-2019) for both the 100 and 200-meter races after the 2020 spring athletic season was cancelled due to COVID-19.

After running at Barton County Community College in Kansas the last two years, Burnett will enroll and run track at the University of Southern California in the fall.
