The Needham United girls travel sixth grade soccer team won the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions on Sunday, June 25. The Needham girls qualified for MTOC by placing first in the Boston-Area Youth Soccer League for the spring and then advanced to the weekend state tournament by beating Framingham in a one game playoff by a score of 5-3.
Over the three day MTOC weekend, Needham United won five consecutive games with victories over Stoneham (3-0), Norwell (2-1), East Bridgewater (3-1), and Ludlow (7-1) in the semi-finals, before securing the championship with a 4-2 win in double overtime vs. Dartmouth.
The girls finished the sixth grade year with a dominant record of 27-2-2, scoring 84 goals while allowing just 21 in both league and tournament play.
