The Fall I high school athletic season began this past week in Needham. Among the week's Rockets news and notes:
- The Needham High School varsity field hockey team started 2020 with convincing 3-0 victory against Brookline on Monday. Grace Kelley, Lily Schmalz and Ally Yee notched goals for the Rockets.
- Needham varsity boys golf earned their first victory of the season on Monday, 89-111, over Brookline.
- Varsity golf dropped a pair of close matches to rival Wellesley: 102-99 on September 29, and 121-115 on October 1.
- Needham varsity boys and girls soccer, as well as boys and girls cross-country, will open their respective seasons next week.
