Needham Gold team takes title

The Needham Gold 8-year-old summer team won the Friendship Summer League’s Bay State National Division title on Aug. 6 with a 21-4 win over Canton at Booth Field in Foxboro.

The Needham Gold team went undefeated during the regular season (8-0), and along with the Needham White 8-year-old team (4-4) won the Friendship League's Jim Finn Award, given to the town with the most victories, for the fourth year in a row.

Needham Gold players include: Evan McManus, William Lavelle, Matthew Mullaney, Colin O'Donnell, Tucker Anderson, Michael Keene, Miles Kane, Seth Feigenbaum, Kevin Salafia, Liam Velde, Will Moore-Ede, Matthew Spalla, Ryan Volante, Jack Sherman, and Ethan Robbins.

Needham Gold was coached by Kevin Lavelle and Barry Mullaney, along with assistants John Keene, Eddie McManus and Tom O'Donnell. Needham White was coached by David Volante.
