The Friends of Needham Hockey, Inc. (FONH) presented their 2018 FONH Varsity Ice Hockey Scholarship to five recent graduates of Needham High School. These Needham High School graduates each played varsity ice hockey at Needham High and submitted an essay describing how the NHS hockey program has helped them prepare for future endeavors in college and beyond. The FONH reviewed essays from the applicants graduating this year. Each graduate was awarded a $500 scholarship.
The graduates receiving scholarships were: Emma Hasenfus (Regis College), Rose Evans (Middlebury College), Tyler McEvoy (University of Maryland), Danny McEvoy (Endicott College), and Meghan McQuillen (Georgetown University).
The Friends of Needham Hockey, Inc. was formed in December 2016 as a Massachusetts not-for-profit 501(c)3 community-sponsored organization to unify and support the girls and boys high school hockey program at Needham High School. The mission of the organization is to promote ice hockey at NHS and to enhance the ice hockey experience for NHS players.
