Coming off of a weekend sweep against rival Westwood to open up the 2020 season, the Medfield High School varsity boys soccer team returned to the pitch this past weekend to host a back-to-back against TVL foe Millis.
After a solid 3-1 victory on Saturday to move to 3-0-0, the Warriors returned to the MHS turf on Sunday in search of the sweep. Medfield also held its annual Senior Day on Sunday to honor members of their 2021 class: captain Colin Quint, Robert Spaeth, Garrett Compston, Matthew Perachi, captain Jake Kraemer, Aidan Fedor, captain James Layden, captain Brendan Harding, Benjamin Previte, Michael Downing, Slater Franks, Evan Adolph, Andrew Stevens and Edward Ariel.
The Warriors drew first blood in the 15th minute of the first quarter when James Layden booted one home from about 15 yards out. Jake Kraemer doubled the lead to 2-0 about three minutes into the second quarter, finishing a beautiful cross from Brendan Harding at the net-mouth. Medfield carried their two-goal lead into halftime.
Layden’s second of the game, a right-legged boot just inside the far left post off of a feed from Evan Adolph, extended the lead to 3-0 just two minutes into the second half. Ben Previte put home a rebound in the 15th minute to make it a 4-0 game at the end of three quarters.
Evan Adolph launched home a missile into the top right corner of the net from about 25 yards out to make it a 5-0 game with 12 minutes remaining. The Warriors secured the shutout and came away with the 5-0 victory to move to 4-0-0 on the year.
