The Medfield 11U Little League team continued on their way to the State Final this weekend sweeping Parkway 2-0 in a best of three series at Lyons Field in Newton. The win gave Medfield 11U the Sectional title for the second year in a row. Enduring high temperatures on the field, the Medfield team kept the bats hot throughout the weekend, winning 12-0 on Friday night and 17-3 on Saturday afternoon.

In the first game, Thomas Shurtleff was outstanding on the mound, keeping the Parkway bats quiet. Colin Bligh sparked the scoring with a 3-run homer and Medfield never looked back. Thomas Shurtleff also went deep to help himself out in his 5-inning complete game victory.

In the second game, Medfield came out of the gates quickly, jumping to an 8-0 lead after 1 inning and never looked back. Thomas Shurtleff and Dominic Nunziato went back-to-back HR as the big highlight of the inning. Jack Collins added a solo HR later and the entire team continued to hit the ball well and play solid defense. On a stifling hot afternoon, Brendan Lawless also proved to be a tough match for the Parkway hitters, taking home the 17-3 win in a 4-inning, complete game performance.

The Sectional win propels Medfield to the 11U State Finals this coming weekend in Holden. Medfield will play Saturday, July 23 at 7:00 p.m., opponent TBD. If Medfield wins, they will play for the championship on Sunday, July 24.
