The Medfield High girls’ basketball team made quick work of its first round opponent, beating Tri-Valley League rival Medway 61-42 to advance to the Div. 2 Central semifinal against No. 2 seed Groton-Dunstable at Clark University on Wednesday night.

The Warriors (16-5) beat Medway for the third time this season behind 22 points from sophomore Maggie McCarthy (who was recently named the TVL MVP for girls’ basketball) and 18 from junior Lauren Casieri.

UPDATE - On Wednesday, the Warriors used a big fourth quarter run to pull away from Groton-Dunstable in the semifinal and will face Notre Dame Academy (Worcester) on Saturday at Fitchburg State at 12:45 p.m.
