Catholic Memorial senior Frank Cosolito and Medfield High senior Matt Treiber once skated together during their Medfield Youth Hockey days and on Saturday afternoon they were able to join forces again representing the South team during the annual Shriner’s Hockey Classic at Loring Arena in Framingham.

Cosolito picked up an assist in the second period and the South team scored a 4-3 overtime victory.

“The Shriners game was an unbelievable experience that I will never forget,” said Cosolito, who was also selected to represent CM at the Shriner’s football game in the summer. “Getting to play with some of the best and most respected hockey players in the state was remarkable.”

He added, “The Aleppo Shriners gave me the opportunity to give back to the community doing something I love, and I was grateful to receive such an honor.”

Treiber, who was one of the leading scorers for the Warriors this winter as Medfield won the Div. 2 state title, remarked, “I’m grateful that I was able to play in a game that goes to such an amazing cause.  Every kid out there was not only deserving of a jersey but also very unselfish.”

For the two former teammates and friends, it was also a fun opportunity to share the ice one more time and to hold the trophy after picking up the win.

Treiber said, “It was also really cool to play with Frank again because he was a teammate of mine when I first started playing hockey.”
