Champions, all-stars mark Medfield winter season

Medfield High School wrapped up the 2021 winter athletic season this past week. Along with the conclusion of the season, Medfield also saw multiple of its athletes recognized with postseason awards.

  • Varsity boys hockey defeated rival Hopkinton, 7-4, on Thursday morning at Pirelli Arena in Franklin. The win secured the Warriors (6-2-2, 5-0-1) the 2021 TVL championship, as Medfield concluded the season with points in each of their final eight games (6-0-2). Seven different players scored for Medfield in the win: junior forward Kevin Arthur, senior captains and forward Phil Parker, senior defenseman James Wilder, senior captain and forward Chris Lawson, senior forward Colin Quint, senior captain and forward Sam Palmer and sophomore forward James Tyer.
  • Girls basketball had three of its members named to the TVL Large All-Star team: junior guard Lillie Cumming, junior guard and captain Annie McCarthy and senior captain and forward Camilla Silk. Also receiving recognition were junior guard Maya Hilvert and sophomore guard Kate Olenik, who earned TVL Honorable Mention. Head coach Mark Nickerson was also named TVL Girls Basketball Coach of the Year.
  • Medfield boys varsity basketball senior guard Johnny Bochiechio was named a TVL Large All-Star.
  • Medfield varsity football, which will begin its abbreviated Fall II season in the coming weeks, held a zoom call with New England Patriots special teams captain Matthew Slater and center David Andrews on February 18.
