Medfield raids Dover-Sherborn

The Medfield Warriors traveled to Dover Sherborn High on Monday, May 6 for their tenth TVL match-up of the season. Medfield dominated over DS striking an impressive 21-2 win in the books. 

In the first quarter, Medfield silenced their hosts with an impeccable 10-0 start. Kelly Blake got the momentum moving for the Warriors 15 seconds into the game, swooping around the X, and driving into the cage. Less than a minute later, Blake struck again against DS in a free-position shot and slammed the ball to the back of the net once more. Izzy Kittredge also went on to knock in two back-to-back points herself on DS’ net, giving Medfield a 4-0 lead just three minutes into the competition. Kittredge finished the quarter with four goals and Blake followed with three, Medfield closed the quarter 10-0.

Headed into the second, Medfield’s Jill Dipiero struck blood first with an unassisted goal in the quarter at 11:10. Medfield put up two more goals after DiPiero’s, and were 13-0 until Dover Sherborn’s Avery O’Connell raced down the field and pocketed a goal in the net for the Raiders making the score 13-1. Medfield placed another point on the board, but Dover-Sherborn answered back with their last goal of the evening. The half closed 15-2 with Medfield in the lead. 

Silencing DS for the entire second half, Medfield tapered down their scoring and placed six goals split between both quarters.  The game came to a close with Medfield in the lead 21-2.

Head coach Mary Laughna highlighted some of the girls on the field who had an outstanding game, including Izzy Kittredge who scored her 100th point in the game.  “Izzy Kittredge had an outstanding game, she had six goals, and she started the pace for us right away,” said Laughna.

The Warriors will travel to Westwood High on Thursday, May 16 the game is set to begin at 4:30 PM.
