Erik Linden has already well established himself as one of the elite runners in the state of Massachusetts throughout the winter with personal and DS school records being broken by the senior seemingly every week. However, on Sunday, Linden established himself as one of the top six runners in the country in the boys 800 meter at the New Balance National Tournament in New York City.

After all the hype and anticipation, Linden ran a swift 1:57.18 to place sixth in his heat (12 total). While Linden has clocked times of 1:56 in the past throughout the season, a sixth place finish at Nationals with a 1:57.18 is a pretty excellent consolation.

Unlike some runners who did not compete at the All-New England’s to try and prep for Nationals, Linden gutted out a performance for the ages with a fourth-place finish in the one-mile race with a personal record and school record-breaking time of 4:20.62.

Now, along with his record-setting day at the All-New England’s, Linden will leave DS as, without a doubt, the best distance runner in Dover-Sherborn history as the only DS indoor track star to place at the All-State, All-New England, and National Tournaments.
