DS 4th grade girls win championship

The Dover-Sherborn 4th grade girls “Athenas” squad defeated Milton by a score of 36-18 on Saturday, March 11, to win the Metrowest Girls Grade 4 Division 3 Championship.

The “Athenas” squad was compromised of twelve players, all new to Metrowest travel basketball and most new to the game of basketball. The squad went 8-4 in the regular season in Division 4, then moved up to Division 3 during the playoffs.

Through hard work and determination, the girls were able to go undefeated in four games during the playoffs to win the championship.

The “Athenas” were a part of the larger Dover-Sherborn 4th grade girls team, comprised of 23 players, along with another game squad called the “Amazons,” and were coached by a team of four dedicated mothers. All the players practiced together, then split up into squads for games. The tam focused on fundamental basketball skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork throughout the season.
