New directors joining Chamber board

The Newton-Needham Regional Chamber has announced the addition of four new directors to its board of directors effective Jan. 1. Michael R. Jaff, Michael St. Peter and Angela Pitter will all begin three-year terms when the board convenes for the first meeting of 2018. John Karacalidis will serve a one-year term.

Dr. Michael R. Jaff was named president of Newton-Wellesley Hospital in October 2016 coming from Massachusetts General Hospital where he was the inaugural Paul and Phyllis Fireman Endowed Chair of Vascular Medicine and Medical Director of the Fireman Vascular Center at MGH. A Newton resident, Dr. Jaffe is a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and an active clinical consultant in all aspects of vascular medicine. He has published extensively in the field of Vascular Medicine with over 210 peer-reviewed publications and 9 textbooks, is the Past-President of the Society for Vascular Medicine and Biology, and was the first physician to have received the designation as Master of the Society for Vascular Medicine. Dr. Jaff also established VasCore, now the world’s largest clinical trials core lab for non-invasive vascular imaging, and is an alumnus of Harvard Business School after completing the General Management Program.

John Karacalidis is a senior vice president, enterprise risk at The Village Bank with a leadership role in the management of the institution’s operational and strategic risk and compliance activities. His background includes nearly a decade in risk management, most recently as vice president, enterprise risk with Brown Brothers Harriman. Earlier in his career, he held related positions of increasing responsibility with Mellon Financial, Investors Bank and Trust, and Capgemini Consulting. John comes to the board through his role on the N-Squared Innovation District task force.

Mike St. Peter is president of NBC Boston, New England Cable News (necn), and Telemundo Boston. In this role, Mike manages overall operations of NBCUniversal’s television stations, NBC Boston and

Telemundo Boston, and necn, the largest 24-hour regional news network in the country. He also serves as the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Telemundo Boston / WNEU, Telemundo’s local television station that serves Spanish-speaking viewers in the Greater Boston area. An industry veteran, Mike has nearly 30 years of journalism experience. Prior to assuming his current post, he held leadership positions at stations in Connecticut and New Jersey where coverage of the World Trade Center bombing, the Sandy Hook shooting and Hurricanes Irene and Sandy was recognized with numerous Emmy Awards and the prestigious George Foster Peabody.

Angela Pitter is Principal/Founder at LiveWire Collaborative, partnering with businesses, executives and professional service consultants to engage online marketing and social media as a way to increase revenue. Also a professional speaker and trainer, Angela has provided a variety of social media hands-on workshops to several hundred business owners and professional service consultants. An accomplished technology professional and certified Project Management Professional (PMP), she has spent the past 20 years in high-tech and gained extensive experience leading global teams and products. to the market. A Newton resident, Angela is finishing up her term as a board member of the Newton School Committee.
