The Rotary Club of Needham partnered with Fourth Grade Foresters in celebration of Arbor Day, giving each fourth grade student in the Needham a Norway Spruce sapling to plant. A total of 547 trees were given out. Together these trees make up a unique forest - a forest planted by Needham fourth graders. Each student was also given instructions on where and how to plant the sapling. During the years to come, the children will share in the joy of watching their sapling grow.
Now in the era of global warming and air pollution, tree planting is even more important than ever. Trees, by consuming carbon dioxide, help reduce warming and clean the air we breath.
In the Rotary’s effort to support employment of the disabled, each sapling was individually packaged for distribution by workers with disabilities.
