On Monday, August 14, Needham elementary school students were invited to an End of Summer Party in the Community Room at the Needham Library. The party was organized in order to celebrate the conclusion of this summer’s reading program in Needham.
Music and snacks were provided, and prizes were given to everyone who came. Over 30 children participated in the party, and their enthusiasm contributed to the celebratory atmosphere. The event hosts also announced the number of hours read by students from each Needham elementary school, as kids had been encouraged to log the number of hours they read over the summer at the library. Mitchell Elementary School had students read for the greatest number of hours this summer, with over 2000 hours logged. Additionally, the top individual readers were announced and received special awards of their own.
Overall, the library provided a thrilling and exciting end to a massively successful 2017 summer reading program.
