On Saturday, Jan. 24, Needham High’s talented a cappella groups took the stage with collegiate singers for the annual A Cappella Go fundraising concert and, despite the snow storm that hit the area that night, drew a packed house to the school’s auditorium.
The groups ran through their repertoires of songs and displayed the talent that has sent a number of Needham High alumni into the collegiate ranks, including a few alumni who returned that night to perform for their hometown fans.
“The concert was amazing,” said Nancy Berger, one of the organizers of the concert. “In spite of the weather we had a sold out crowd.”
She added, “All of the groups were so talented, and it was great to have them come back to their alma mater…I heard from more than one person that the high school kids were inspired by the groups talent and accomplishments.”
Berger noted that working with the collegiate a cappella groups, and seeing former Needham High singers on stage with those groups, persuaded more than a few to pursue it when they head to college as well.
It was another great night of music at Needham High and another example of the talent that the school can send to the stage.
