Tree lighting and holiday parade coming

Medfield’s Holiday Season will officially open on Friday, December 6, at 6:30 p.m., with the lighting of trees in Baxter Park and the placement of banners along Main Street. Along with the traditional caroling and refreshments, a special feature of the evening will be the drawing to select six lucky children to be Santa’s Elves and ride with him in the parade on Saturday, December 7. Any child (ages 4-10) who wishes to enter the contest must register at the time of the tree lighting and must be present when the winning names are drawn after the tree lighting ceremony and caroling.

The annual Holiday Parade will take place on Saturday, December 7, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Middle School. The High School band, costumed Girl Scouts and Brownies, Cub Scouts, dance groups, floats, and fire engines will lead Santa and his elves through town. The parade will follow a route proceeding from the Middle School, left onto Pound Street, right onto South Street to the lights, (at Brothers’ Market/Route 109); left onto Main Street to Park Street (at RR tracks); left on Park Street to Oak Street; left on Oak Street to Pleasant Street; right onto Pleasant Street; left onto Metacomet Street and straight into the High School grounds, to conclude at the Middle School parking lot. To coincide with the festivities, many merchants will be holding open houses, sales or other special events throughout that weekend. All of the activities are supported and/or sponsored by Medfield Employers and Merchants Organization (MEMO).
