This past Saturday, October 14th, local families with their little ghouls, goblins, and witches flocked to Baxter Field to partake in Medfields newest autumnal themeted traditional: MedfieldTV’s Scarecrow Spooktacular!

Local families and businesses came together to create a unique and friendly themed scarecrow for people of all ages to come and enjoy.

Attendees, donned in either costumes or their festive fall fits, ventured through the park and were greeted by scarecrows of all shapes, sizes, and occupations; from ballerina’s and Girl Scouts to witches and doctors. Each scarecrow brought forth its own distinctive badge of creativity. Guests were encouraged to vote on their favorite scarecrow overall as well as which scarecrow they thought to be the most creative, the spookiest, and the wackiest.

Apart from these fabulous scarecrows, there were a variety of local vendors who came to support this cause. Attendees weaved through the different tables to craft, play games, blow bubbles, and learn about different business and upcoming events such as the MFi Angel Run. Entertainment was provided throughout the afternoon by Point Premier School of Dance, musician Kevin Cournoyer, Andi Costello and The Bridge St. Fiddlers, Kurt Jackson, and finally: the costume contest sponsored by Geico. At the conclusion of the event, the moment that everyone had been waiting for, MedfieldTV announced the winners of the scarecrow contest!

Among the community favorites, third place went to Scarecrow #24, entitled, “Rapunzel,” second place went to Scarecrow #17, named “Johnny”, and first prize went to Scarecrow #3 named  “CORVUS.”

In the categories competition, most creative scarecrow went to Scarecrow #12, entitled “Dressed Bootiful for the BeSpooky Ball,” spookiest scarecrow went to Scarecrow #11, named “Scared of Crow” and wackiest scarecrow went to Scarecrow #13, named “Stained Glass Skeleton.” Each category winner received a trophy and a $100 cash prize.

The community favorites received prizes as well; first place won a first place medal as well as a $100 cash prize, second prize won a second place medal and a $50 cash prize, while third place won a third place medal and a $25 prize.

MedfieldTV's Scarecrow Spooktacular was a day filled with laughter, creativity, and community spirit. Families and businesses joined forces to bring a delightful array of scarecrows to life, showcasing their unique personalities and talents. From ballerinas to witches, the scarecrows added an extra layer of magic to this autumnal event.

Local vendors and entertainers made the day even more special, offering a variety of activities and performances.

The competition was fierce, with "CORVUS" claiming the top prize as the community favorite. The most creative, spookiest, and wackiest scarecrows also found their well-deserved winners.

This event not only celebrated the spirit of Halloween but also brought the Medfield community closer together. It's a day we won't soon forget, and we can't wait to see what next year's Scarecrow Spooktacular will bring!
