Thirty years ago, the world was captivated by Beanie Babies, enchanted by The Lion King, and swayed by Boyz II Men's chart-topping hits. In Medfield, another significant event took place: Annette Gallagher began her remarkable career with the Medfield Afterschool Program (MAP).
Since starting in 1994, Annette has held various roles within MAP, including Team Teacher, Program Director, and currently, Executive Director. Throughout her tenure, Annette has been a cornerstone of MAP, dedicating her creativity, energy, and passion to the community.
Annette’s educational background includes a B.S. in Elementary Education from Bridgewater State College and a Master's in Education with an emphasis on School Age Care from Concordia University, which she earned while working at MAP. Throughout her tenure, Annette has not only overseen the growth and expansion of the program but has also been an inspiring role model and a steadfast supporter for the entire MAP family—staff, students, and families alike.
Under Annette's leadership, MAP has transformed from a modest program serving about 15 families in the Memorial School gym to a vital community institution serving over 300 children. The program now operates out of two modular buildings—one at Memorial School for younger students and another at Wheelock School for second and third graders. Additionally, MAP leases space at the Pfaff Center for its programs catering to fourth through sixth graders.
Annette's role as Executive Director involves overseeing Program Directors and the daily operations of three MAP sites, and her ability to balance administrative responsibilities with personal interactions has earned her admiration from colleagues and families. Her dedication and passion for working with children have never wavered, and she continues to inspire those around her with her grace and commitment.
The MAP Board, employees, students, and their families extend their heartfelt gratitude for her unparalleled leadership. Annette's 30-year journey is a testament to her creativity, energy, and unwavering commitment to the MAP community and beyond.
As MAP celebrates this significant milestone, the entire community joins in to say: Three Cheers for 30 Years, Annette Gallagher! And many more to come!
