Successful Discover Medfield Day

Residents of Medfield and more braved the rainy weather this past Saturday, September 23rd, for the 43rd annual Discover Medfield Day. Run by Medfield Employers & Merchants Organizations (MEMO), this year included over 140 booths that highlighted an array of Medfield businesses and organizations.

The rain and chilly weather did not stop the crowds from filing into Medfield Day. Nestled between Upham Road and Brook Street, vendors, inflatables, fire trucks, and more lined the streets for all to enjoy. There was a little something for everyone and no one left empty handed.

Among the 140 vendors were booths from Medfield High School (MHS) Sports teams, Medfield Fire & Police, Medfield Boys and Girl Scouts, Friends of the Medfield Public Library, the Bellforge Arts Center, Medfield Historical Society, and so much more. Within each of these booths, amazing raffles, fun games, and cool prizes were available for all to participate in. As an added bonus for the little ones, giant inflatable slides and obstacle courses were set up in the Kids’ Alley. These were a huge hit and allowed kiddos to get all their energy out.

Once you visited the booths and grabbed some food, you could head over to the Food Court Tent to enjoy some magnificent entertainment on the stage. The lineup for this year’s entertainment included: the National Anthem by Vivienne Ladd and Boy Scout Color Guard, MHS Band/Orchestra, Mass Motion Dance Metro West, Montrose Treblemakers, MHS Soundwaves, Medfield Dance Academy, MHS Cheer, Pointe Premiere School of Dance, Route 109 Acoustic, and MEMO Auction & Raffle winners.

Chairman of MEMO, Russ Hallisey, was seen all day, making sure everything was running smoothly. When talking with him about this social event of the year, he stated, “Medfield Day is run by the MEMO organization and we have been doing it since 1980 so this is our 43rd year. Unfortunately, we had to take a year off because of COVID. I have been personally running it for about twenty years now. I absolutely love it, I love doing it. To me, it’s like a big block party, the Medfield Block Party if you will. I really love to see everyone enjoy themselves. I want the exhibitors to have a good time and be productive, I want the people who come here to have a good time. We really do care about that so we try to run it in such a business-like manner. We also do this rain or shine, it is just easier that way to set one date. So far, the rain hasn’t been too bad so we can only hope the whole day will be the same.”

As a whole, Medfield Day is an incredible way to bring the community together and focus on all businesses that are within. The goal is to support one another all while having a fun time!
