Medfield is known for being a "giving community.” Many groups hold fundraisers, but what makes the Medfield Lions Club Spring Gala unique is that all proceeds raised are used by the Medfield Lions to support the needs of the Medfield Neighbor Brigade.
Who are the Neighbor Brigade?
The Medfield Neighbor Brigade chapter was formed in March 2010. The Chapter leaders donate time to coordinate the needs of families in crisis with the volunteers who want to help. Medfield residents join the Neighbor Brigade and help out when a family or individual is in temporary crisis due to an illness, surgery, cancer, accident, fire, death or other life event. The network of volunteers provide temporary, non-monetary assistance. The Neighbor Brigade volunteers provide services, but they do not raise funds. The Lions Spring Gala event was created to raise funds and use all the proceeds to help the families that are designated and supported by the Neighbor Brigade.
Members of the community can help by signing up to attend the Gala on Saturday, May 5, at the Zullo Gallery from 7:30 - 10 p.m. Tickets are $35 each, and can be purchased online at http://www.lionsneighborbrigade.myevent.com.
Those who cannot attend can still help. To donate an item/service to the raffles, contact Toby Burrell (tobster9@aol.com, 508-359-5210) or Colleen Sullivan (sc3ms@verizon.net, 508-359-5083). To make a financial donation or sponsor this event, do so via the event website, http://www.lionsneighborbrigade.myevent.com.
This year will mark the 5th annual Spring Gala event and the Medfield Lions are hopeful it will be the best yet. Neighbor Brigade Chapter leaders Laurie and Kathleen are grateful for the community support throughout the year, but especially thankful to the Medfield Lions for hosting this annual event and giving the Medfield families in temporary crisis a bit of financial help when most needed.
Proceeds from last year's Spring Gala allowed the Medfield Lions to purchase $50 “Birthday Wishes” gift cards for 58 children recognized by the Neighbor Brigade. In addition, seven Hinkley Swim Pond Family Passes and two $250 Gift cards were purchased by the Lions to help a Medfield family in temporary crisis.
