Continuing a holiday tradition at the Pfaff Community Center, the Medfield Parks & Recreation Department welcomed Santa Claus to town on Saturday, Dec. 2 as part of a fundraiser for the Medfield Food Cupboard.
At this annual event, families came to meet Santa, have pictures taken with him, allowed kids to share their Christmas wish lists, and took part in festive holiday activities and crafts. The Parks & Recreation Department provided soft drinks and breakfast food for the event.
“We relish the opportunity to bring Santa to Medfield so that families can spend some time with him at the start of the holiday season,” said Medfield Parks & Recreation Director Kevin Ryder. “To partner with the Food Cupboard is a home-run during the holidays. It allows us to do a little something to give back to the community. To see the smiles on the faces of the kids after they get to see Santa makes it all worth it.”
Admission to the event is a donation to the food cupboard, either through non-perishable goods or a cash donation. This year, nearly 100 kids came through the Pfaff Center doors to see Santa. Donations to the Food Cupboard were the largest ever, with the bin at the Pfaff Center overflowing with food donations and $330 raised in cash donations.
Members of the community may donate to the Food Cupboard via the bin at the Pfaff Center during regular Park & Recreation business hours.
