On Saturday, July 15th, the Bellforge Arts Center hosted the ‘Festival of New American Art’ for all to come and enjoy. This extraordinary celebration of art and music was held by the Foundation for New American Art and in partnership with the Medfield Cultural Council and the Bellforge Arts Center.
This free event personified intergenerational and multi-cultural art which included amazing musical performances, engaging workshops, and thrilling exhibitions that went on to showcase the true depth and diversity of American artwork.
Running the show was internationally acclaimed singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist, Phoebe Legere. She is also the president of the Foundation for New American Art. One could easily see just how passionate she is for the arts and for this festival. She went on to state, ““We all came together to make this incredible art/music afternoon for children and adults. It’s really an amazing time for all.”
There were also some incredible volunteers who helped set up the whole festival. One volunteer was Medfield’s own Matthew Stevens, who is going into his senior year at Medfield High School.
Musical performances were conducted by legendary New England recording artists: Andy Pratt, Robin Lane, Phoebe Legere, and DJ Sam Kopper. Kopper was the host for this event, guiding the audience through a powerful journey while keeping an electric atmosphere throughout its entirety.
According to the Bellforge Arts website, “The Festival of New American Art is a free, family-friendly gathering that welcomes individuals of all ages, fostering intergenerational connections and creating a space for appreciation, exploration, and engagement with the beauty of art. Attendees have the opportunity to indulge in art exhibitions, live performances, interactive workshops, and much more, allowing them to immerse themselves in the vibrant tapestry of American creativity.”
This year’s festival was an amazing experience that brought together the Medfield community to appreciate some wonderful music and art. There was a little something for everyone!
