Medfield Talks, a collaborative group of parent organizations and district leadership, is hosting a free talk, “Achieving Sanity & Success,” with Michael Delman, CEO, Beyond BookSmart, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 9, in the MHS Lowell Mason Auditorium.
Prior to founding Beyond BookSmart, an academic/life skills coaching firm, Delman was co-founder and principal of the Christa McAuliffe Charter School in Framingham, and a Southborough middle school teacher who earned a Massachusetts Distinguished Educator award.
Throughout his work as an educator, Delman has played a role in helping thousands of children overcome a variety of challenges to become effective learners and lead more productive lives. Through remarks and Q&A on Feb. 9, he will help parents better understand the definition of “executive function”, develop strategies to improve organization and time management skills, and break the cycle of stressful parent-child interactions.
“Teaching executive function strategies is about helping young people find capacities in themselves that they didn’t know they had,” said Delman.
All members of the Medfield community are welcome to attend the presentation by Delman. More information and a ticket link can be found on the Medfield.net school website in the Quick Links/Thursday Packet section. Registration is for planning purposes only – tickets are not required.
The Feb. 9 presentation has been generously funded by Medfield Talks members Special Education Parent Advisory Council and Medfield Music Association. Other members are Medfield Coalition for Public Education, Medfield Foundation, MHS PTO, Medfield K-8 PTO, and Medfield Public School Superintendent Jeffrey Marsden and the senior leadership team.
