The Medfield Council on Aging’s “ROMEO” (Retired Old Men Eating Out) Club’s January outing included an outing to AstraLuna Distillery on West St. in Medfield.
About 15 members of the Romeo Club were guests of Andrew McCabe, Partner/Distiller, who explained the process of using corn, potatoes, or molasses and a whole lot of copper vats, piping, and valves to make hand crafted rum, gin or vodka.
The liquors are aged in old oak bourbon barrels. In addition, the distillery uses select and distinctive ingredients from Cape Cod and has begun distribution throughout the state.
While McCabe could not offer any samples, members of the club will be asking for the brand at local package stores. Following the tour, the group enjoyed a hearty pub lunch at Napper Tandy’s in Walpole.
