The Medfield High honors jazz band competed in the Massachusetts Association for Jazz Education Southeast District Jazz Ensemble Festival at King Philip High on March 3 and qualified for the Div. II state finals at Coakley Middle School in Norwood.
At the finals on March 19, the jazz band received a gold medal and will now be invited to perform at the Esplanade in Boston on May 15.
In addition, Jon Kerivan and Melanie Baime were named Outstanding Soloists and the rhythm section received a special award as well, which according to music director Doug Olsen is only given in “special circumstances.”
Congratulations to the Medfield High jazz band on another great performance in the state finals.
